Whiplash

Whiplash is not always associated with road traffic accidents and refers to the nature of the injury, that is, when the head is forced suddenly in one direction and then recoils in the opposite direction causing compressive tissue damage that can involve mild surface micro-fractures in the bones of the neck, muscle tears and straining of the ligaments.

Often the pain doesn’t start on the day of the accident, in can take up to 2 days before the pain begins. Quite often there may be dizziness, pain into the arm, pins and needles and numbness into the hand. It is important that the condition is addressed as early as possible to avoid ongoing and chronic neck pain.
